fylm.ai 2.0 Update – Introducing Capture One ICC export, revamped AI Magic Mode, streamlined new design and much more

fylm.ai 2.0 update introduces ICC profiles and styles export for Capture One, new AI-powered Magic Mode and a streamlined new design. In addition, fylm.ai 2.0 introduces improved Raw files handling, opacity control for every tool for more granular control over your grades and new Vibrance tool.

We are excited to announce the release of fylm.ai 2.0 – our biggest update ever.

Let’s dive in and see what’s new…

Capture One ICC profile and Style export

fylm.ai 2.0 allows you to export your fylm.ai colour grades as ICC profiles for Capture One. Also, you can now convert any 3rd party .cube LUT into a Capture One compliant ICC profile using the Custom LUT tool.

Watch this 3-minute tutorial to learn how you can turn any of your colour grades, or 3rd party .cube LUTs into an ICC profile for Capture One.

New streamlined design

fylm.ai 2.0 boasts a complete redesign featuring a much more streamlined interface that reduces the number of clicks required to complete an action.

Watch this 8-minute video which covers the basics of using fylm.ai 2.0.

Information in fylm.ai is now more organized making it easier to track your actions. Here are the main design changes we’ve made in fylm.ai 2.0.

All tools are now vertical tabs

There’s no more need to “add tools” to fylm.ai. All tools are readily available as vertical tabs in the left-hand side column and semantically divided into appropriate categories. Whenever you click on a tool, it is automatically added to your “My Edits” tab which is available at the top of the column.

Left column is dedicated to editing actions

Any and all image editing in fylm.ai 2.0 takes place in the left-hand side column. Simple as that. Quicker and more organized.

Previews are on the left

Previews are now on the left-hand side, next to the tools so that they are more accessible and faster to reach. The Previews can also be independently collapsed or expanded.

Assets, Discussion and Export are now on the right

Previously, Assets, Candidates and Matches were split across two columns. With fylm.ai 2.0 they all now reside in the right-hand side column of the interface. This makes the interface more organized and clear. Also, Candidates and Matches are now searchable from their respective tabs making your life easier when you have multiple Candidates or Matches.

Presets have their own tab

Previously, Presets were somewhat hidden in fylm.ai. Well, not anymore. Presets now reside in their own vertical tab in the right-hand side column making them more easily accessible but more importantly visible and worthy of the attention that they deserve.

Export actions are grouped together

Still in the right-hand side column, we find four grouped vertical tabs: LUT export, XMP Profile export, Capture One ICC profile export and Image save. Easy.

AI-Powered Magic Mode

We have re-built the Magic Mode so that now it offer AI suggested corrections.

The first three steps of the Magic Mode are now: AI Exposure, AI Contrast and AI White Balance.

Our neural network AI models will analyze your image for exposure, contrast and white balance and offer a suggestion based of off that analysis.

Also, Cine Looks and Print Film Emulations have been replaced with Film Grades which are 6 different and stylized colour grading suggestions.

The rest of the Magic Mode remains as it was, offering you an easy and quick way to manipulate memory colours, create a split toning effect and manipulate the skin tones.

If you prefer to use the old Magic Mode, it is still available as a separate tool.

Improved Raw files handling

Previously, fylm.ai would automatically demosaic your Raw photos into the ProPhoto RGB colour space. While this was a perfectly valid approach, it wasn’t always necessary, especially if all you wanted is to create a quick grade and export it as a LUT.

Now, fylm.ai will automatically show a JPG preview from your file and demosaic the file only if you ask it to. This has two advantages:

  1. JPG preview displays more quickly
  2. You can start grading right away and demosaic the Raw file only if you wish to save a high resolution image from fylm.ai

Additionally, fylm.ai will now demosaic the file into ACES 2065-1 colour space using 32-bit floating point for maximum flexibility and quality in post. This will allow you to push your colour grades much further than previously.

Opacity control for every block

We have added the opacity control to every tool in fylm.ai for more granular control over your colour grades. Now, you can set that slider to 2.34 and set the opacity to 47%. Double control = double fun. Forever tweaking 🤠

New Vibrance tool

fylm.ai 2.0 adds a Vibrance tool which allows you to increase the saturation of less-saturated colours while leaving the saturated colours fairly intact. Unlike Saturation control which increases the saturation of all colours equally, Vibrance has a more natural feeling to it and it offers generally more appealing aesthetics in colour grading.

To get the new update, no action from user is required and you will be on the latest version as soon as you reload the app.

If you encounter any unexpected behavior in the app we suggest clearing the cache and reloading the app. As always, should you have any questions please contact our support.
